Josh Davalli enters his third season as the head coach of the Loyola Dons. Davalli graduated from Cardinal Gibbons School with All Metro honors and proceeded to the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. After one year at Lowell, Davalli transferred to Towson University where he was defensive player of the year. After graduating from Towson University, Davalli became an assistant JV and Varsity coach at Fallston High School before joining the Loyola coaching staff under former Coach Gerry Savage in 2003. Davalli was named The Catholic Review's Coach of the Year for the 2005-2006 Season.

Coach Jeff Bauer '98

Jeff Bauer ('98) returns to Loyola this year for his third season as an an assistant coach for Coach Davalli's Varsity team. Bauer who played for Coach Gerry Savage, in his senior year was part of the Dons' last MIAA A League Championship. Coach Bauer still plays in local adult leagues. He is looking forward to bringing the winning tradition back to the Loyola program.

Coach Mike Lackner

Coach Lackner returns to the Dons' Coaching Staff this year for his fourth season, after a year away. Lackner was a member of the coaching staff from 2004-2006. He has coached at the junior high, freshman, junior varsity and varsity assistant levels and has been coaching for 14 years. Lackner attended Susquehanna University and was a member of the basketball program that made it to the second round of the National Division III tournament in 1993-94. Lackner joins the Loyola faculty this year serving as the Upper School Technology Coordinator.

Coach Pat Maggio

Pat Maggio returns to the Loyola varsity bench as an assistant coach this year under Coach Davalli. Coach Maggio brings a wealth of experience to this position where he served as a long time assistant to Loyola's historic basketball coach Jerry Savage. This is Maggio's 34th year in the classroom as a full time religion teacher. He is currently in his 9th year teaching at Loyola and chairs the department. He has served as either a head coach or an assistant varsity coach in the Baltimore Catholic League for 32 years. He has assisted Ray Mullis, Gene Nieberlein, and Jerry Savage.

Junior Varsity Coach Stephan Breit

Coach Stephan Breit returns for his third season with the Dons' coaching staff. The past two years, he has led the junior varsity to consecutive playoff births. Breit joined the Loyola Staff after 7 successful seasons as the Associate Head Coach for St. Frances Academy where he worked under legendary coach William Wells. In his last season at SFA, he helped lead the team to the BCL tournament championship. A former division one athlete, Breit ran track and cross-country for Fordham University.

Assistant Coach Matt Fraling '80

Coach Matt Fraling joins the Don's coaching staff this year. Fraling a 1980 Loyola Alum, is a Jerry Savage disciple, and was part of the Georgetown Junior Varsity basketball program in the early 80's under Coach John Thompson. Coach Fraling is President of the Greater Loch Raven Recreation Council’s (GLRRC) Boys’ Basketball Program, and is entering his 9th year of coaching and has had stops at Gonzaga, Archbishop Curley, and Western Tech. He has also coached the boys’ 14-Under GLRRC team since 2001 and has amassed a 170-90 record. Coach Fraling has been a regular at the Five Star Baltimore Basketball Camps since 2001.

Freshman Coach Blake Henry '98

Coach Blake Henry '98 returns for his third season as the freshman basketball coach for the Dons. Henry a former standout football and basketball player joins the Dons football and coaching staffs this season after a successful football career at Wake Forest University. Coach Henry is the Offensive Line Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the highly successful football team. Coach Henry is also in his third year of teaching at Loyola.

7th Grade Coach Reagan Raneri

Coach Raneri attended Roland Park Country School for thirteen years. As a student at RPCS, Raneri participated in Varsity athletics all three seasons: Field Hockey in the fall, Basketball in the winter and Lacrosse in the spring. Following graduation in 1997, I attended Georgetown University in Washington D.C where I majored in English and minored in Art History and was also a four year member of the Division I Women’s Varsity Lacrosse Team. Coach Raneri currently teaches writing composition and religion to the entire sixth grade at Loyola-Blakefield. Raneri is also the varsity co-coach for lacrosse at Garrison Forest School.
